Where it

       comes from

The mopane trees are widespread in southern Africa, and particularly in northern Namibia where they’re harvested. The seeds are collected by Ovahimba and Herero women in the Kunene region from June through November, and they’re steam distilled by the community-owned processing center, allowing the profits of oil sales to benefit the communities.

Like our Omumbiri oil, this unique aromatic comes from our partnership with Scents of Namibia, a community-owned trust whose mission it is to ensure sustainable use of natural products and make sure that harvesters and communities benefit fairly from their commercialization. The oil is quite unlike anything else on the market, a deep and well-rounded scent, and is particularly used for perfumes.
